For all but a few climbing Mount Everest is too much of a mountain to climb. For everyone else base camp is the perfect second choice. There are two base camps that are commonly used with the south base in Nepal at an altitude of 5,364 metres (17,598 ft) or the North Camp that is in Tibet at 5,150 metres (16,900 ft). It’s not without is dangers but you’ll get as close as possible to the great mountain without having to make it all the way to the top.
